Firstly Ciao and Ola – I have reached Italy and Brasil and Portugal – Happy Days my keywords are finally working.
Since I have started my venture into Shabby Chic Furniture Restoration my interest in paint, wax, paint brushes and sand paper has increased massively, sad I know but there you go. Now I do not claim to be an expert on the subject just yet but so far my Top 5 Shabby Chic items are
- Craig & Rose Chalky Emulsion.
- Bri Wax Clear Wax.
- Black and Decker Mouse Sander.
- Harris Paint Brushes
- Old Tea towels cut up for buffing.
Today whilst browsing around my local B&Q, I discovered a paint which has been made purposely for painting furniture, its called RUST-OLEUM and I have bought 2 of the 750ml pots in Chalky White and Bramwell (green) I have a few new pieces to try them out on, so I will blog about my findings next time. I also picked up a Colour/Range Guide which was free unlike the Autentico Colour Charts which are a staggering £2.00 each, someone should tell them you have to speculate to accumulate. The Craig & Rose and Farrow & Ball colour range charts are all free too.
I use my local charity shop called International Aid Trust to source fantastic items that people have donated and then I pay a small price and restore them into contemporary pieces that fit better into the homes of today. Usually I stick to small items like nest of tables, bedside tables, coffee table, console tables etc, but the shop does deliver if I fall for a large item and they only charge £5.00 per item which is fantastic value for money.
On the social media front of which I am getting to grips with slowly but surely, my Facebook page can be found here https://www.facebook.com/vintagecat2014 and a LIKE would definitely help me (or so I’ve been told) my handle for twitter is @vintagecatuk follow me if you like 🙂
Well I’ll leave it there for now and speak soon
